Four crewmembers from Sabine Parish are among those who were on the drilling rig that exploded in the Gulf of Mexico Tuesday night. Authorities have not identified the men from Sabine Parish or confirmed if they are among the missing. Efforts to reach their families on Wednesday were unsuccessful.
The search continues off the coast of Louisiana for at least 11 workers who are missing. The Coast Guard is conducting the search.
126 workers were aboard the Transocean Deepwater Horizon MODU semi-submersible oil drilling rig when there was an explosion and fire late Tuesday night. The Coast Guard said 17 were taken by air or sea to hospitals. Four were reported in critical condition.
An official with Transocean said there were no signs of trouble before the blast aboard the Deepwater Horizon rig.
