Fatal Harris County New Year’s Truck Crash

On Friday January 1, 2010 at approximately 11:25 AM the driver of a red 2008 GMC pickup truck ran a red light at E Beltway 8 N and was struck by a white 2006 Mack truck and semi-trailer. The Mack truck and semi-trailer rolled over, striking two other vehicles.

The driver of the Mack truck died at the scene as a result of his injuries sustained in the collision. The driver and three rear seat occupants of the GMC and the driver of another vehicle involved were transported by ambulance to Memorial Hermann Hospital. The front right passenger of the GMC was transported by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition. The driver and passenger of another vehicle involved were transported by ambulance to East Houston Regional Medical Center.

The collision is under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Section.

Several other car crashes in Houston brought the New Years death toll up to 9 very quickly.
