This morning a fire broke out on board the ferry Aurora near Spectacle Island in Boston , Massachusetts. Spectacle Island is an island in Boston Harbor and is serviced by ferries to and from Boston.
The crew of the Aurora used the boat’s fire extinguishing system to put out the fire but did notify the Coast Guard as well, and they sent out a utility boatcrew.
The five crew members from the Aurora were accounted for and brought safely ashore. There were no passengers aboard.
The Aurora is now moored at Spectacle Island to vent its engine compartment.
