An explosion injured six crewmembers last week aboard a cargo ship that was docked in the Philippines.
The crewmembers sustained 2nd and 3rd degree burn injuries and were immediately taken to a local hospital. The vessel, carrying construction materials, was at the Bredco port in Bacolod City when the blast occurred.
An investigation was still underway, but the Bureau of Fire Protection noted that crewmembers were welding in the cargo hold area, repairing leaks from a fuel tank, at the time of the explosion.
