A 54-year-old Texas woman and one of her grandson’s were killed in a collision between an 18-wheeler and a pickup truck.
Cheryl Self, 54, of Fort Stockton, Texas and her 13-year-old grandson Christopher Mielke of Aberdeen, S.D. died in an 18-wheeler collision Friday. The two were passengers in an 18-wheeler which had an accident with a pickup truck on Interstate 90 in South Dakota.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol said Self and three of her grandchildren were passengers in the 18-wheeler, which crossed the Interstate 90 median and hit the oncoming pickup at around 1:50 p.m. Friday.
The other children, who are 11 and 5, suffered minor injuries.
The semi driver,John Self, 67, also of Ft. Stockton, Texas suffered serious injuries.
The pickup driver, Robert Askren, 70, of Cincinnati, Ohio, had minor injuries and his passenger wasn’t hurt.
