Six fishermen are missing after their boat was hit by a Maltese steamship Monday night near Taizhou City in eastern China. The 30-meter-long boat, a Chinese-registered fishing vessel, was fishing 20 nautical miles east of Dacheng Island when it was hit by the 169-meter-long, Maltese-registered vessel MELINAI Monday evening, according to Chinese Coast Guard officials.
As of 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, more than six government-dispatched ships and over ten fishing boats were searching for the missing fishermen.
