An offshore supply vessel struck a fixed production platform about 5 miles south of Port Fourchon in Louisiana early Friday morning. No injuries were reported.
The 260-foot Connor Bordelon allided the South Timbalier (ST) Block 27IA, causing a fire on the platform, according to the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE). Gas bubbles were reportedly rising to the surface intermittently, but no other pollution was detected.
The Connor Bordelon returned to Port Fourchon after the incident for a damage assessment. According to U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Jonathan Lally, the vessel was taking on water.
Twenty personnel were aboard the vessel at the time of the offshore accident but none were injured.
