Search Ends for Remaining Missing in Asian Ship Capsizing

Maritime & Jones Act Workers Claims, Maritime Accident

As many as 13 Indonesians went missing after the Singaporean ship Ocean Lark capsized on the South China Sea earlier this month. The ship weighed 767 tons and sank on its voyage to to Pulau Matak, the oil exploration site of Conoco Phillips, Premiere Oil, and Star Energy.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore and Indonesia’s Rescue Sub-Centre Tanjung Pinang have ceased the search and rescue operation for missing persons from the tugboat Ocean Lark.

The search went on for seven days and involved more than 75 vessels and aircraft.

Vessels passing the vicinity of the incident site must still keep a lookout for the 4 persons that remain unaccounted for.

Of the 13 persons reported to be on board Ocean Lark at the time of her sinking, two were rescued and seven were recovered.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore is still investigating the incident.
