The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is looking into the recent death of refinery worker at the Citgo East plant in Corpus Christi.
The worker was found unconscious in an operating unit around 9 p.m. Jan. 12. He was taken to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to some reports, the worker died from injuries sustained in a fall from scaffolding about 120 feet up on the Fluidic Catalytic Cracking Unit No. 2. The worker suffered multiple broken bones and other injuries, the sources said.
“Emergency responders were called and transported the employee to an area hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead,” the company said in the statement.
