A contract worker lost both of his legs on Thanksgiving Day in an accident at ExxonMobil Baton Rouge Refinery.
According to ExxonMobil officials, the man was injured “during the course of regular operations.” The company said in a statement that the worker was treated at the scene and taken to a local hospital.
“We regret that this incident occurred,” said Refinery Manager Mark Northcutt in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the contractor and his family.” The company is investigating the cause of the accident.
ExxonMobil Baton Rouge is the second largest refinery in the state, with a 502,500 barrel a day capacity.
