An injured 47-year-old man was evacuated Sunday from a 92-foot tugboat at the entrance of the St. Johns River near the Mayport jetties, according to the Coast Guard.
Andy Syska was rescued from the vessel Peggy Winslow by Coast Guard lifeboat crew after a distress call from the tug was radioed about 7 p.m.
Syska was in severe pain from a leg injury and was taken to the boat ramp to meet rescue workers and awaiting EMS at the Mayport boat ramp. Syska was reportedly in fair condition.
