A helicopter carrying three people crash landed in the waters of West Galveston Bay Monday night. A pilot and two passengers aboard a Bell 206 were leaving a cargo ship, the Eagle Vancouver, at the time of the unexpected landing. The pilot and one passenger were located and rescued by a boat crew just two-and-a-half miles from Jamaica Beach. The body of the other passenger was discovered shortly after. The helicopter was owned by Republic Helicopters, a company based out of Sante Fe, that transports crews from cargo ships onto land. As of now, it is still unknown as to what propelled the accident. The Coast Guard and Galveston County are expected to revisit the site of the crash today to further the investigation.
