Hay Brut Commercial Fishing Vessel Fire Burns Three Crewmen

Maritime & Jones Act Workers Claims

Three commercial fishermen suffered maritime burn injuries after their fishing boat caught fire along the St. Mary’s River yesterday in St. Mary’s Georgia. The three-member crew of the 24-foot fishing boat HAY BRUT reported a fire on board, to which the Coast Guard responded. The crew managed to put the fire out before the Coast Guard’s arrival.

The Hay Brut was towed to a pier in Fernandina Beach. The fishing boat crewmembers were taken straight to the hospital in a waiting ambulance. The crewmen suffered non life-threatening burn injuries according to multiple media reports.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission is investigating this incident.
