KHOU Houston reports on a tragic story of a local high school cheerleader who was killed in a car crash. Nicole Vestal, only 16 years old, died in a June 2 car accident on FM 2100 and Stroker Road. Her funeral was set for 2 p.m. today at Fellowship of the Nations Church, 13305 Woodforest Blvd., Houston, with services starting at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in San Jacinto Memorial Park.
Vestal was the passenger in the car when it crashed. The driver, Crosby cheerleader Kayla Riordan, was seriously injured and remains in the hospital in good condition.
Investigators said Riordan did not yield the right of way at a stop sign. This failure to yield caused Riordan’s vehicle to be broadsided by a welding truck. The driver of the other vehicle was also injured in the accident. Some media reprots have him listed in critical condition.
Vestal was a 10th grade student of Crosby High School. This fatal accident happened the day before the last day of school.
