The European Council on Monday approved launching a civilian mission to support anti-piracy efforts in the Horn of Africa and Western Indian Ocean. Maritime piracy lawyers know these waters as some of the most dangerous for pirate activity.
The two-year mission, EUCAP Nestor, aims to train and equip coast guard services and improve maritime security expertise.
The mission will include about 175 people who will work with governments in Djibouti, Kenya, Seychelles and Somalia to enhance their governing capabilities in territorial waters, with a budget of about $27.8 million.
The maritime lawyers at Schechter, Shaffer & Harris, L.L.P., Accident & Injury Lawyers have represented crewmembers of vessels involved in pirate attacks. Contact us today if you or a loved one wish to pursue legal action.
