Crewmember Dies After Fall Onto Ship Deck

The chief officer of a vessel docked at the ExxonMobil Refinery Dock in Beaumont was killed in maritime accident on Tuesday.

Andrey Pakholchuk, 44, of Russia, fell to the deck of the Mystic Striker after being struck by a mooring line that snapped, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. ExxonMobile Emergency response team and Beaumont EMS attempted to treat Pakholchuk, but he was later pronounced dead.

The ship is owned and operated by Greece-based Enterprise Shipping & Trading S.A. An autopsy was ordered and an investigation is continuing.
