Coast Guard medically evacuates crewmember from vessel Joseph L. Block

The Coast Guard medically evacuated a crewmember suffering chest pains from the freighter Joseph L. Block this morning. The man complained of chest pains and had pain in at least one arm.

The Joseph L. Block, a 714-foot vessel, was approximately 30-miles southwest of Grand Haven, Michigan when they reported a crewmember in distress early today.

Coast Guard Station Grand Haven launched a 47-foot Motor Life Boat (MLB) , carrying four emergency medical personnel, which transported the victim from the Joseph L. Block to Station Grand Haven, where local emergency medical services transported the man to the North Ottawa Community Hospital.
