Three people are reportedly dead and at least 10 others remain accounted for after a ruptured gas line caused an explosion near Pecan Plantation on Monday afternoon. A lot of people have been transported to hospital with burn injuries.
Hood County Commissioner Steve Barry told local media that several people were burned when a 36-inch gas line was ruptured.
There is not yet an official count of the injured or missing. The gas company was still trying to shut off the line at last media update.
The blast occurred near the Hood County, Johnson County, and Somervell County lines.
No evacuations are planned at this time.
The explosion took place in a pipeline owned by Enterprise Products Partners. The line traverses the state of Texas and carries natural gas under high pressure, according to a company spokesman.
The company has shut down that section of the line using automatic valves. The compnay believes that a third party may have struck their line, causing this massive Texas gas well explosion.
Firefighters from eight departments are surrounding the fireball.
