Body of Maritime Cook Lindsey Tucker Recovered from Sunken Sandy Point Fishing Vessel

Salvage divers have been searching the waters for answers after the Gulf of Mexico vessel collision last week.  It has now been confirmed that on Saturday, the divers located the body of Lindsey A. Tucker, the cook aboard the commercial fishing vessel Sandy Point.  The body was found in the cabin of the sunken pogy boat.  The two other crew members unaccounted for from the Omega Protein boat remain missing at this time.  Family members have spoken out, saying that another of the crew lost at sea was Roderick Watkins, a 48 year-old fisherman.

The Sandy Point was returning on Wednesday of last week to Omega Protein’s Moss Point plant when it collided with the much-larger container ship Eurus London, which was headed toward Texas.

The salvage dive team remains hard at work, attempting to locate the remaining two crewmen and to raise the vessel to the surface for further investigation.  The first priority of all involved is of course to find the missing.  Once the bodies are recovered, the divers will remove the boat mast which currently is blocking the Gulfport Ship Channel.
