An Amtrak passenger was injured Sunday when the train he was riding in smashed into the trailer of an 18-wheeler that got stuck on a railroad crossing in east Fort Worth, Texas.
The passenger was taken to the hospital. His or her condition remains uknown, but the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The truck driver was not injured.
The tractor-trailer was crossing the tracks when the trailer became stuck on the tracks and bottomed out. As the driver was standing outside the tractor-trailer, the train hit it, splitting it in half and scattering the insulation it was carrying, according to local police on the scene.
Hazmat had to be called in to handle the liquid inside the tanker. It was not hazardous but did require some clean up.
