The northbound lanes of Interstate 45 were shut down for six hours on Sunday morning after a two-car wreck that left one driver dead and another arrested on intoxicated manslaughter charges.
According to police, Blisha Marie Puga, 35, was traveling north on Gulf Freeway in a black Saab when she swerved into the next lane of traffic. Her car struck a Ford Taurus, crushing the vehicle’s right side. The driver of the Taurus, a 49-year-old woman, died at the scene. Her name has not been released.
The accident occurred about 5:10 a.m. Sunday, but authorities kept the roadway closed while they investigated the accident. Northbound lanes were reopened about 11 a.m.
