A car speeding in and out of traffic in Baytown lost control, veering into oncoming traffic and causing a crash that left the driver dead and four others injured.
The 26-year-old driver of a Pontiac Vibe was travelling on Highway 146 when he lost control and crashed into a black Lincoln, which was pushed into the path of a FedEx delivery truck. The driver, from Dayton, was pronounced dead on the scene.
Three men in the Lincoln were seriously injured and taken by air ambulance to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. All were expected to survive. The FedEx truck driver suffered a leg injury and was taken to a Baytown hospital.
Police shut down northbound lanes of Highway 146 while they investigated the accident scene.
