Tuesday afternoon just after 4pm, an accident involving a pick-up and an 18-wheeler caused severe personal injury to 32-year-old Wes Fletcher Jr. of Brownwood, Texas. Fletcher was air lifted to Hendricks Medical Center in Abilene after his pick-up collided with the semi truck. The driver of the semi and his passenger sustained minor injuries after the 18-wheeler pulling a cattle trailer overturned.
Some reports indicate that the pick-up swerved over the median. The semi driver tried to avoid the crash and hit a guard rail causing the trailer to flip. Crews were able to remove the uninjured cattle from the trailer after the crash.
Family and friends of Wes Fletcher Jr. are asking for prayers from the community, posting consistently on Facebook for Fletcher’s recovery, and now two blood drives to benefit Fletcher.
Friday, Sept 17th, a blood drive will be held at the United Methodist Church located at 18001 Hwy 183N, in May, Texas on Friday Sept. 17th from 9am-2pm. Then on Tuesday, Sept. 21st, a blood drive is scheduled at the High Mesa Cowboy Church located at 1100 High Mesa Drive in Brownwood, Texas from 10am-4pm. Blood donations may also be made at Hendricks Medical Center. A fund for donations has been set up at a local bank as well.
