A teen was struck by an ambulance in a bicycle accident late Sunday in Galveston, emergency officials said.
The 15-year-old Galveston boy was riding a bike just after 10:30 p.m. Sunday, in the right land of Seawall Boulevard, when the ambulance collided with him. Officials said the bicyclist and ambulance were occupying the same lane when the accident occurred.
The ambulance stopped to help the bicyclist, who suffered a broken arm, leg and hip bone and was transported to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
Sgt. Douglas Balli, with the Galveston Police Department, said the area where the incident occurred is very dark at night and the shoulder lane narrows in the spot where the collision occurred.
