The U.S. Coast Guard is continuing the search for a missing boater Monday after a collision between a pleasure craft and a barge Sunday afternoon.
The accident, between a boat and a barge being pushed by a tug, occurred on the Orange County side of the Intracoastal Waterway near Sabine Lake. The captain of the tugboat called the Coast Guard after the incident.
The missing man is identified as John Tran, 56, of Bridge City. Coast Guard officials say the smaller boat, which sank, has been located under water. The tugboat wasn’t damaged.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
