Gulf Oil And Gas Production Returning To Normal After Isaac

Oil and gas crews are getting back to work in the Gulf of Mexico after Hurricane Isaac passed. The storm has reportedly caused only minor damage to rigs and platforms.

The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement said Monday that more than 58 percent of daily oil production and 39 percent of daily natural gas production in the Gulf is still offline. Last week, as much as 95 percent of oil production and 72 percent of natural gas production was shut down as Isaac came into the Gulf. The agency said six rigs and 71 production platforms were still evacuated.

There were 11 Gulf Coast refineries affected by the hurricane. One has returned to normal production and nine are restarting or working at reduced rates.
