A Look Back at 2013 with SMSH

The end of another year is upon us. From attorney awards to big settlements, this was a great year for SMSH. Some of the highlights of 2013 include:

Houston attorneys honored: H Texas magazine named Matthew Shaffer, Jonathan Harris and Cynthia Huerta to their Top Lawyers 2013 list in personal injury law.

Best Lawyers and Law Firm: Matthew Shaffer was selected for inclusion in the Best Lawyers in Texas© list for 2013 in Admiralty/Maritime Law, and Schechter, Shaffer & Harris was named as a Tier 1 maritime law firm in Houston by U.S. News – Best Lawyers® “Best Law Firms” in 2014.

Top Lawyers: Houstonia magazine honored Matthew Shaffer and Arthur Schechter in admiralty/maritime law and Jonathan Harris in personal injury law with inclusion in the Top Lawyers for 2013 list.

In the news: Arthur Schechter was featured in both the Houston Chronicle and The New York Times for his political fundraising efforts.

Landmark settlement: Shaffer won a $2 million Jones Act settlement on behalf a seaman who was injured while working on a vessel. The settlement is believed to be the largest ever paid to a Jones Act seaman by the United States government.
