Texas investigative authorities have released the name of a man killed in an industrial accident on Saturday afternoon, March 19, 2011. Scottie Burnett, 40, of Dodson, Louisiana, was tragically killed while working on a Texas job site at 11000 Moore Road. Little detail has been made available about the accident, but early media reports indicate that Mr. Burnett became somehow trapped between two pieces of industrial equipment.
Police and volunteer firefighters responded to the industrial accident, finding Scottie Dodson, an employee of the job site, wedged between two pieces of equipment that workers were attempting to erect at the gas well site. The type of equipment was not mentioned, but could be gas separators, gas production units, frac tanks, gun barrels, or crude oil storage tanks. Much of the equipment used at gas well sites is huge and heavy. Safety concerns abound on a job site using heavy machinery and where workers come into contact with flammable, toxic materials on a regular basis. Our Texas Construction Accident Lawyers have written about the dangers of drilling equipment before.
Justice of the Peace Ray Chesson pronounced Mr. Dodson dead at the scene and ordered an autopsy. Our thoughts go out to his family, friends and co-workers at this difficult time.
