Coast Guard Searching For Tanker Engineer Missing In Gulf

Crews from the U.S. Coast Guard and the tanker Elia were searching for the vessel’s chief engineer after he went missing off Port Aransas on Sunday afternoon.

The 47-year-old Russian man was last seen about 10:10 a.m. About 10:30 a.m., he couldn’t be found. The Elia crew searched the vessel, then called the Coast Guard for assistance at 1:55 p.m.

A 45-foot response boat, HU-25 Falcon airplane and MH-65 Dolphin helicopter were assisting in the search.
