Twelve contract workers were injured , three critically burned, after a fire in the processing unit of ExxonMobil’s Beaumont refinery this morning. The fire has been put out, company spokeswoman Kathleen Jackson said.
The injured workers were transported by ambulance to Beaumont hospitals with a range of injuries. Helicopters could not be used because of poor weather conditions, Beaumont Fire and Rescue said.
The unit was shut down for repairs at the time of the incident.
