The driver of an 18-wheeler died in a fiery collision with another big rig on U.S. 59 in Rosenberg this morning, forcing authorities to shut down portions of the Southwest Freeway. The wreck happened on the south bound Southwest Freeway near Spur 529. Authorities closed the south bound lanes while emergency crews and police cleared the site. It’s unclear when the lanes will be reopened.
One of the semi-tractor trailers bust into flames. Lt. Colin Davidson of the Rosenberg Police Department said two tractor-trailer rigs collided resulting in the closure of the freeway for hours.
Traffic was being routed down Spur 59, back to Texas 36.
The victim has not been identified.
Officials said they are trying to determine what caused the wreck.
