Child dies in Houston Car Wreck, Stopping Traffic on the Katy Freeway

Posted on Dec 29, 2009

A 6-year-old girl was killed and two other children and another person were injured in a three-vehicle wreck that shut down part of the westbound Katy Freeway today.  It was not clear what caused the crash.

The girl died at the scene, and a teenager, an infant and an 11-year-old child were injured and taken to Texas Children’s Hospital, conditions unreported at this time.  Three adults were also hurt and transported to the hospital in unknown conditions.

An adult and all four children were in a severely damaged van.

Authorities blocked off all outbound lanes of the freeway while investigators worked the scene.

Traffic was mostly stopped for several hours after the crash.
