Two Women Killed in Truck Accident in New Boston, Texas
by Stacey E. Burke on October 22, 2009
Two women have been killed in a truck accident near New Boston, Texas. Details are still emerging, but it appears that the two women were passengers in a Buick LeSabre, which was struck by an 18-wheeler. The Texas Department of Public Safety seems to blame the accident on the driver's failure to yield right of way. It's still too early to say what happened here, and a complete investigation will point to the causes of the accident.
Truck Accident Investigations Can be Complex
Investigating a truck accident can be a complicated process. These crashes may be caused by negligent drivers, irresponsible trucking companies, or careless motorists. Sometimes, they may be caused because of a design defect in a highway, or poor maintenance of a road. Many times, it's a combination of two or more of the above factors that can lead to an accident.
Victims who have been injured in an 18 wheeler accident, or families who have lost loved ones in such crashes, will find that their hopes for recovery rest solely on being able to identify the person or entity responsible for the accident. Not all victims realize that a trucking company has access to aggressive lawyers, who will rush to the scene of the accident, and will do all they can to minimize the company's liability. Victims may even be blamed for the crash.
For a victim, the accident could be his first one. The trucking company, on the other hand, has likely seen several collisions, and their lawyers will know how to protect the company from any liability.
Can Just Any Truck Accident Lawyer Litigate These Cases?
An experienced Texas truck accident attorney can help identify the factors that are responsible for the crash. This can involve interviewing witnesses, hiring experts, and conducting complex and thorough inspections of the tractor trailer to determine if malfunctioning truck parts led to the accident. Truck accident lawyers will also pore through trucking company records, as well as driver log books to ascertain that the trucker wasn't working for longer hours than allowed. Attorneys will also probe the past history and driving record of the truck driver to ascertain if safe hiring practices were followed.
Needless to say, all this can require heavy use of financial, legal and other resources. It's important to trust a large and established Texas trucking accident law firm that can allocate the kind of resources necessary to investigate 18 wheeler accidents, and stand by the victim through the long and stressful litigation process.
