La Porte Man Killed In Motorcycle Accident

A 23-year-old man died Friday from injuries in a Thursday night motorcycle accident in Texas City.

According to a preliminary investigation, La Porte resident Eric Raymundo was traveling north on state Highway 146 when another vehicle turned in front of him. Texas City Police Department Capt. Brian Goetschius said it appeared the rider took evasive action and lost control of his motorcycle.

An off-duty police officer found Raymundo and his wrecked motorcycle on the side of the road about midnight. Raymundo was transported to Mainland Medical Center by ambulance and died around 2 a.m. Friday. He was reported to have been wearing a helmet when the crash occurred.

Goetschius said the accident was still under investigation and they did not yet know who was driving the other vehicle.
