by Stacey E. Burke on March 30, 2010
Eric Coleman, 44, evening coordinator and instructor of the Del Mar College GED program was killed in a motorcycle accident this weekend. His wife, Leola Coleman, riding as his passenger at the time of the crash, sustained multiple injuries in the accident. She has been employed in Del Mar College's Cosmetology department for nine years.
The accident occurred in Gonzales, Texas when a white Chevrolet van veered into their lane. The couple was driving home from Lockhart. The Colemans were on Highway 183 near State Highway 97 when the fatal Texas Motorcycle Crash took place. The van's driver was cited for failing to yield.
Mrs. Coleman underwent emergency surgery at University Medical Center in San Antonio and is scheduled for a second surgery on Friday. Her condition is critical but stable. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Mr. & Mrs. Coleman at this tragic time.
